The Deer of Knole Park – 22nd August 2022

Knole’s medieval deer park was first created in 1456 when Archbishop Bourchier enclosed the area with a fence to make a park for deer hunting. With hunting no long allowed, the Fallow deer now freely roam the 1,000 acres of parkland.

Whilst Knole House and approximately 43 acres of the park are today owned by the National Trust, the majority of the park and the deer herd are still owned and managed by the Sackville family.
